RUMSPRINGA RUMBLES IN AUGUST – THE RUMBLE WEST COAST DATES ANNOUNCED - July 29th 2010

RUMSPRINGA wowed at The Rumble LA back in March and now they’re back for the entire West Coast leg of THE RUMBLE August tour. Led by Joey Stevens, what was once a tight twosome has now expanded into a free following quartet, with addition of Cecilia Dellaperuti (guitars/vocals), Richardo Robles (bass) and Andrew Parker (drums).

Fresh off a string of California dates, including a stop at the San Francisco Art Institute and spots at Spaceland and The Echo, RUMSPRINGA are rightfully drawing comparisons to Black Keys, but wit Steven’s vocals add more elements of psych rock, especially on new tracks like “Witches Milk” and “Sway.”

Garnering favorable press from anyone and everyone from RCRD LBL to Flavorpill and even MTV NEWS who declared RUMPSPRINGA is, “one of the best LA bands I have seen in a really long time. This LA based act are hazy and dirty (minus the shoegaze) with classic electric riffs, creating genuine blues soaked music that demand audience participation; swaying and all and as LA RECORD puts it, “something about this band’s music is hypnotizing.” Judging from their last Rumble stop, we can easily infer that every night on the tour is likely to have fans in a trance.

Just like the Amish rite of passage they take their name from, RUMSPRINGA are exploring their sound and influences, “running around with our minds, voices, hands, feet, guitars, basses, and drums” and are set to heat up THE RUMBLE AUGUST TOUR.

Monday August 2nd, we’re at Havana Social Club for THE RUMBLE SEATTLE and offering up some post Capitol Hill Block Party goodness, with local act RUMSPRINGA and SEE ME RIVER. This Pacific Northwest collective are Americana /folk with darker undertones have been capturing the attention of everyone, including our friend Josh over at Sound On the Sound, who included “Ed Jackson,” off The Great Unwashed EP in his favorite songs of 2009. KEXP’s also taken notice, with John Richards featuring the track as one of his Songs of the Day. Just off the Spring release of the fourth full length, The One That Got A WAKE, SEE ME RIVER are crafting roots rock infused with haunting vocal melodies that shouldn’t be missed. With TRUMER PILS deals all night, THE RUMBLE SEATTLE is the only way to start the week of right.

Then on Tuesday August 3rd we’re heading down to Holocene for THE RUMBLE PORTLAND, where RUMSPRINGA are joined by local PDX band and Willamette Week fav NUCULAR ANIMALS. Their self-titled limited hand made release out on Seattle based Aphonia Recordings is full of what Portland Mercury calls “synthy-pop doo-wop loveliness” and with tracks like “La Dead A Bamba” and “Yes It’s Good For Me,” we wholeheartedly agree.

Rounding out the bill are SF surf pop quintet, AB & THE SEA. We were fortunate enough to have these retro inspired guys play THE RUMBLE JULY in SF (where they scored their first encore) and LA. We really can’t help but love their frothy, infectious, hook laden gems like “Yellow-Haired Girl” and “Bone Dry. This combined with copious amounts of swagger and stage presence, it’s no wonder Indie Shuffle is claiming that AB & THE SEA are on their “way to being the focal point of a jangley doo-wop renaissance.” As usual, it’s all about TRUMER PILS, with specials throughout the evening and DJ SKIN SO SOFT will be manning the decks.
Wednesday August 4th will swoop down to the bay area for THE RUMBLE SF at Café Du Nord with THE TERROR PIGEON DANCE REVOLT! And BILLY & DOLLY sharing the bill with RUMSPRINGA. We can already imagine RUMSPRINGA’S bluesy rock genius tearing up the vintage bordello vibe of Du Nord.

We were fortunate enough to score NPR and Pitchfork favorite, THE TERROR PIGEON DANCE REVOLT! who have been out in support of their debut I Love You. I Love You. I Love You And I’m In Love With You. Have An Awesome Day! Have The Best Day Of Your Life! (Luaka Bop). Comprised of former SUNY PURCHASE students, this art-dance collective are in the mold of Broken Social Scene; anthemic and soaring. Just listen to “Ride Friendship” for further confirmation.

Only a few years old, THE TERROR PIGEON DANCE REVOLT! are known for their insane live shows, with Vice proclaiming, “everything worthy of a band known for memorable performance-art-led, costume-fuelled, all-singing-all-dancing extravaganzas.” So, SF be prepared.

Rounding out the night are SF staples and former members of The Monolith, BILLY & DOLLY. Led by Bill Rousseau and Dahlia Gallin Ramirez, this duo are creating beautiful harmony rich indie pop gems that SF critics can’t stop raving about, with SF Weekly noting, “their vocal harmonies are sleek and thick and bright, as effortless and interwoven as those of Simon and Garfunkel.”

Our main man, DJ BAGEL TED will be providing the ultimate mid set soundtrack, spinning all night long TRUMER PILS specials rule the night, thus there’s no excuse for some midweek partying to be had. RSVP at Sonic Living.

As we venture further south and come back home on Thursday August 5th for THE RUMBLE LA at our favorite dark hideaway, 3 Clubs. It’s here where we’ll be introducing two acts to the tour that we really can’t stop talking about, LESANDS and DINOSAUR FEATHERS.

San Diego based, LESANDS (formerly Arrowws) are MGMT esque (pre-Congratulations) synth pop perfection that are seriously just a few moments away from becoming indie blog darlings. Considering, KCRW has already jumped on this one and UK based Illegal Tender Magazine declaring, “it was only a matter of minutes before we’d fallen totally for their sun-kissed blend of East Coast electronics and West Coast synth-pyschodelia,” LESANDS are hypnotic blissed out greatness that must be seen.

DINOSAUR FEATHERS are a Brooklyn based trio heading out West to join us for the night. Sixties inspired surf melodies meets Afro-tropical beats (minus the Vampire Weekend references), best describes their debut LP, “Fantasy Memorial” and has The New York Times deeming it “one of the year’s quirkiest and most charming debut albums.” Tracks like “Vendela Vida” and “Teenage Whore” have become FS headquarter staples, evoking a mash-up of the Beach Boys and Animal Collective.

Saturday August 8th we’re taking the entire LA bill down to our North Park home, Bar Pink for THE RUMBLE SAN DIEGO, and after the madness that was the INDIGENOUS birthday bash last month, we’re primed for another epic party. LESANDS are set to wow on their home turf and we can’t wait to hear the new wave inspired gem, “Pretenders” live! With a lineup like this plus TRUMER PILS specials, it’s no wonder THE RUMBLE SD continues to be one of the best nights of the entire tour.

Then, Sunday August 9th, RUMSPRINGA and LESANDS will travel in the blistering desert heat to The Thunderbird Lounge at The Aruba Hotel for THE RUMBLE LAS VEGAS, where they’ll be joined by local act, THE ROOKS. Ranked as one of the Top Ten Acts to Watch in 2010 by Las Vegas Weekly, this relatively new band is capitalizing on the classic downtown rock sound, “clean, polished and retro” but with a little more reverb.

With DJ LADYFINGERS manning the decks and $2 PBR specials all night long, THE RUMBLE LAS VEGAS is the only way to continue the weekend festivities.
